Living in the city has its advantages. But for those of us who live for waking up in the forest on weekends, even a small whiff of conifer scented anything can be enough to send our imaginations a-wonder. Daydreams of meandering forested trails, crawling out of a tent, inhaling a massive breath of pine-scented air -- there's nothing like it.
So, since I don't (yet) have an outdoor shower and am resigning myself to living in the city at least for now, I've decided to bring the forest home. Well, more specifically, to my shower.
This Spruce Forest Body Scrub will invigorate anyone's sense for outdoor adventure. Close your eyes, scrub your skin with something pH neutral, and imagine you're bathing in a Pacific Northwest mountain stream.
There's more than one way to make our dreams a reality. And as is often the case, the first step is a spoonful of sugar.
Spruce Forest Body Scrub:
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup extra light olive oil, almond oil, or apricot oil (whatever you prefer, but go for something unscented)
15 drops black spruce essential oil
10 drops pine essential oil
5 drops fir essential oil
3-5 drops lime essential oil
1 drop sage essential oil
1 drop mugwort essential oil
(This recipe can be done without the sage and mugwort, but I like to add them for plant spirit medicine purposes because they are specific for energy clearing)
Pour the sugar into a bowl and then add the oil. You may want to add more oil, as the desired consistency of your scrub is subjective. Add each of your essential oils. Stir it up. Add to a reusable jar and voila! You have your own refillable conifer-scented body scrub. Enjoy!
